There is no shortage of things to do when visiting The Villages in Florida. While some entertainment options are open all day, and others rely on good planning and timing, that doesn’t mean that you are going to be left out in the cold if you have to visit during so-called off-hours. The truth is that even with a minimal amount of planning and a willingness to look around and get off the beaten path a bit you will find plenty of things you will want to do when visiting this extremely unique planned community.

The Eisenhower Regional Recreation Center
Consistently sided is one of the best attractions you can find in The Villages, and named after World War II general and then Pres. Dwight D Eisenhower, this center contains an incredible amount of memorabilia not just from one branch of the armed forces, but from all of them. Wonderfully displayed, featuring the truly great and interesting collection full of fascinating facts and displays, and beautifully kept this is an amazing tribute to our soldiers in the fact is made up of metals, materials, equipment, photographs, that are mostly from the families who lived in The Villages or still live there, and it really brings it all the home. A must see.

Three Town Squares
If you are visiting from 5 PM to 9 PM then you will want to make sure his swing by at least one of the major town squares. There are actually three town squares in the area and each one features free live entertainment during these hours. Featuring a wide assortment of established bands from the area you might see a couple who could belt out to the classic rock ‘n roll songs the 60s, a band dedicated to the 50s and 60s styles of music, the best blues band in the area, or a favorite to the local country bar circuit.

The point is there is plenty of free entertainment and all you have to do is be the right place at the right time.

Lake Sumter Landing
The Lake Sumter Landing is considered by many locals to be the most beautiful area in all The Villages. A fantastic place to kick back after a busy day, the sunsets over the lake are renowned for their beauty. You could bring some bread to feed to the ducks were more than happy to get a free meal, and really enjoy the laid-back feeling that you sometimes need after a whirlwind of fun but very busy activities.
